Introduction

Chile is a long, narrow country on the west coast of South America, stretching more than 2,700 km from the Atacama Desert in the north to Patagonia in the south, with its capital and largest city in Santiago.​

Chile is regarded as one of Latin America’s more politically and economically stable states, classified as a high‑income economy with strong institutions and a market‑oriented policy framework. The economy is heavily based on copper and other mining, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, while manufacturing and services have expanded alongside trade agreements and integration into global markets.​

Accreditation Body ISO 17011 – Chile

INN is Chile’s national standards and accreditation organisation, responsible for developing national standards, managing the National Accreditation System and coordinating the national metrology network. Its Accreditation Division (División Acreditación) operates the National Accreditation System by running accreditation processes, supervising accredited conformity assessment bodies and maintaining the public directory of accredited organisations, all based on internationally accepted criteria consistent with ISO/IEC 17011 requirements for competence, impartiality and consistent operation of accreditation bodies.​

INN is a full member of regional and international accreditation structures such as IAAC and is recognised in inernational body updates, where its signatory status has been extended to include inspection, confirming its role as Chile’s ISO 17011‑compliant accreditation body for laboratories, product certification bodies, management system certification bodies and inspection bodies.​
