State of Palestine

State of Palestine is a partially recognized state located in the Levant region of the Middle East, comprising primarily the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The region holds profound historical, cultural, and religious significance and is situated in one of the most geopolitically sensitive areas in the world.

The Palestinian economy is characterized by structural constraints, limited territorial continuity, and restrictions on movement and trade. Key economic activities include public administration, services, construction, agriculture (especially olive cultivation), small-scale manufacturing, and donor-supported development projects. Despite these constraints, efforts continue to strengthen institutional capacity and economic resilience.

To support economic development, trade facilitation, public service delivery, and regulatory improvement, the State of Palestine is developing elements of a national quality infrastructure system. This includes conformity assessment activities such as accreditation, inspection, certification, laboratory testing, product certification, and greenhouse gas (GHG) verification.

These systems are aligned with internationally recognized ISO standards such as ISO/IEC 17011, ISO/IEC 17020, ISO/IEC 17021, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17065, ISO 15189, and ISO 14064. These frameworks help ensure competence, impartiality, consistency, and international recognition of conformity assessment activities.
